Welcome to Max on the Move! I’m so glad you stopped by.
This blog is where I share real travel experiences, practical tips, and cultural insights from around the world. Whether you’re looking for travel inspiration, destination guides, or simply want to follow my journey, my goal is to spark curiosity and help you experience the world with confidence.
👋 Who I Am

Hi, I’m Max, a Swiss traveler and content creator currently based in Tokyo, Japan. I’ve explored more than 30 countries across Europe, Asia, and beyond, and I’m passionate about uncovering both iconic landmarks and hidden gems.
When I’m not hiking in the Swiss Alps or wandering through Tokyo’s neon streets, I’m writing, filming, and photographing stories that connect people to places. I also studied Computer Science at Waseda University, bringing an analytical mindset to how I document and share my adventures.

🗾 Where I Know My Way Around
Most of what I write about comes from places I know as a resident, not just as a visitor:
- Japan and Tokyo: I live in Tokyo, so my guides go beyond the sightseeing checklist, from neighborhoods like Koenji and Kabukicho to everyday topics like renting an apartment, the My Number Card and taxes for foreigners. Start with my Japan insider guide or Tokyo travel guide.
- Switzerland: my home country. I write about the places I know best and keep coming back to, from Solothurn and Zurich to lakes, waterfalls and mountain villages. Start with my Switzerland guide.
- South Korea: from Seoul to Busan, Jeju and smaller towns, plus a full Korean food guide. Start with my South Korea insider guide.
- The rest of the world: city breaks and road trips across Asia, Europe and beyond.
📝 How I Research and Write
- I go there myself. My guides are based on my own visits, meals, walks and mistakes, not on rewritten press releases.
- I use my own photos and videos wherever possible, so you see what a place really looks like.
- I write about everyday life, too. Living in Japan means dealing with landlords, city offices and tax forms, and I share what I learned so you do not have to start from zero.
- I keep guides up to date. Prices, opening hours and rules change, and I revisit and update my articles when they do.
- I am honest about money. Some links are affiliate links, and when a visit was sponsored or free, I say so in the article. You can read exactly how this works in my disclosure.

At its heart, this blog remains independent and personal — I only recommend places, activities, and products that I truly believe in.
